MARRAKESH, MOROCCO — The Super Eagles have soared into the semifinals of the 2025/2026 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after a clinical 2–0 victory over the Desert Foxes of Algeria on Saturday, January 10, 2026.

In a high-stakes quarterfinal clash at the Grand Stade de Marrakech, Nigeria’s "Golden Generation" proved too powerful for the Algerians, continuing their dominant run in the tournament.

The Match Highlights

After a tense, goalless first half where Nigeria dictated the tempo, the breakthrough came just two minutes after the restart.

• 47th Minute: Victor Osimhen ignited the Nigerian fans, rising highest to meet a precision cross from Bruno Onyemaechi and powering a header past Luca Zidane.

• 57th Minute: The lead was doubled when Osimhen turned provider. The reigning African Player of the Year unselfishly squared the ball to Akor Adams, who skipped past the goalkeeper to slot into an empty net.
